End In Sight For Alice Party Decor

Although I have made all the decorations for my daughter's upcoming Alice/Mad Hatter party my brain keeps churning and wanting to do more. My husband and the pocket book say stop! The "Eat Me" sign will be at the food table of course, made from chipboard letters from Michael's and backed with poster board. The frame is traced with my projector onto scrapbook paper. The flower faces are single stems from Hobby Lobby's 50% off stem sale and just craft eyes hot glued on, added some ribbon and moss and there you go!

Kids Table & Chairs

I had some scrap fabric and was really tired of looking at my daughter's IKEA table and chair that were REALLY worn with markers and dried playdoh etc. The whole thing took about an hour to do with Mod Podge and black craft paint. The little felt flowers were left over as well, just hot glued them on. I can Mod Podge anything in the world that stuff is really awesome!

Still Working On Party Stuff

For The Craft Table Where Kids Will Decorate Mad Hats!

Fabric covered IKEA table that was just lying around unused

Splatter painted White Roses for tables

Mad Hats for tables

Dollar Store chess boards, glued the pieces to board

Jabberwocky pinata

It is a MAD situation in my kitchen!

I am still slaving away at Mad Hatter party decorations. I am having tons of fun on the projects. I do feel I go a bit overboard sometimes but you are only a cute 4 year old girl once! These photos are a few of the things I am finished or working on.

More Mad Hatter Party Things

1) The homemade invitation - made with digital scrapbooking materials and purchased clipart, printed at home with glossy paper.
2) Reese's birthday t-shirt - made with iron on paper for ink jet printer, peel and iron on letters and felt flower sewn on.
3) Save The Date Card

Refinished TV Cabinet

This project is a couple of years old. Before it was an oak entertainment center. As we modified the tv's it became useless. My husband wanted to sell it and I said "NO"! I needed a china/storage cabinet. It now houses the "special" dishes and other holiday odd and ends.

Blogging For Dummies

Now that I have played catch up with some past and ongoing projects I am going to read up on blogging and get the "low down" on how to's......

Refurbished Breakfast Table

I get bored with the look of things after a while and it really irritates my husband. We had a cherry wood dining set that was about 7 years old and it has always blended in with our cherry cabinet kitchen so I decided it needed a new look. Table and chairs were all cherry (don't have a before pic). The chairs were not covered either. I painted the table semi gloss black and put a vanilla color on the chairs. The covers are made from indoor/outdoor canvas fabric. It has really brightened up the breakfast area.

Upcoming Mad Hatter Tea Party

My Reese's 4th birthday this year is going to be Alice in Wonderland/Mad Hatter Tea Party. Let me tell you that there are ZERO decorations out there for this theme, commercial deco anyways. Everything I have done and am doing is made with love. I could have bought invitations no problem, but I made instead and love the way they came out. The pics are just a few of the things we have going on so far. Party is in November so will post complete party after that. I have tons more in the works but for now here a few snippets- we are having a pseudo photo booth (Reese is holding a prop), my homemade caterpillar (he is FAR from done but you get the idea) and a Mad Hat from a paper plate and scrapbook paper! Can't wait!

Recycled Project

I am not one for jewelry boxes on the dresser, things get put in and never come out for some reason. I like to have my jewelry out in the open, no shuffling around. So most of the time it is just thrown on the dresser or nightstand. I had an old frame (obviously) and I love to use scrapbook paper for anything but scrapbooking. I added a little ribbon, hooks and finishing nails and there you go. It hangs in the bathroom right by the sink. Easy, easy! I might add some finishing nails later to make more hanging room.

Harry Potter Birthday Party

We celebrated our daughter Reese's 3rd birthday with a Harry Potter themed party. I have a love hate relationship with the birthday party process especially since I am a perfectionist and tend to be over the top. I think the party came out fantastic! Most of the decorations were handmade, broomstick treat bags, banners, Reese's t-shirt, favor bags, paper masks, house banners etc. The cauldron with dry ice was my favorite!! We also let the kids decorate their own wizard hats.

Last Year's Backsplash

We have lived in our home for a little over 5 years and have slowly customized it to our liking. The backsplash was the first kitchen project. I love new construction because it is all about making your stamp on the home! As soon as the kitchen is clutter free I will post my new favorite sink job!

Kindle Cover

I don't like any of the offered coverings for my new Kindle so I made one. I like holding the Kindle in one hand, not holding it open like a book. For a sewing beginner I think it came out pretty great. The lining gave me the most trouble. It is basically just a pouch with a velcro strip inside!
